Top 12 Paid Directories That Contribute to SEO - Coupons Too!

"Twelve paid directories..."

In no particular order here are twelve paid directories you can submit your web site to. By no means is this list exhaustive, but it has some goodies.

  1. http://botw.org Edit: (Nov) use the code 'blizzard' and save 25% on your new submissions!
  2. http://www.joeant.com
  3. http://www.business.com (save 20% using this code: 'AVIVA') not tested
  4. http://dir.yahoo.com
  5. http://uncover.com
  6. http://www.site-sift.com
  7. http://www.alivedirectory.com
  8. http://www.octopedia.com
  9. http://sbd.bcentral.com/
  10. http://www.gimpsy.com
  11. http://www.skaffe.com
  12. http://www.wowdirectory.com

Submitting to all of these directories will run your Christmas bill up to 898.85 USD (prices may have changed since I calculated.)

What's the purpose of all of this? Paid directories are still a viable way to get an (one) authority one-way link from an established/quality (for the most part) web site. There are catches of course. A) you have to pay, B) you can get quality one way links for free, C) some of the charges are annual (see Yahoo.)

How should you approach paid directories? Quite simply, recall that it's still a viable option, however, becoming less and less useful in terms of the 'PR weight'. Yahoo! is starting to roll back exposure to their directory and Google has made it clear repeatedly that buying web links for PR boosts is a no-no. Also remember the number of quality paid directories are few and far between. As of Dec 2007 that's more true than ever, legitimate paid directories are few. In fact, unless the budget can handle it, the extra X dollars for yearly paid directories in yahoo and Business.com may not be worth.

Essentially, you could spend 1000K in better ways--hire someone to write wicked related content.

As of Dec 2008, we would suggest that none of these are really worth the cash, however, I do submit client's to two: BOTW and Business.com. Yahoo! now has a recurring fee rather than 299 flat, to me that's worth it if you have no bottom to your budget, but worthless if you are under constraints.

    to B2bLabs:

Why do you think that all these directories are worth to be paid?

If you're paying money nowadays the link better do more than pass PR.

    Barry,

I didnt think some of those directories were the best and should have been in your top 12?

And yes .. I used to think there were only so many directories with good PR .. but there are literally thousands of directories with great PR .. hard to say which are the top 20-25 that everyone should submit their best and most valued sites to without going bankrupt!

I know there could be more but in terms of paid directories these are up there at the top. I disagree though, I don't think there are 1000s of directories with good PR in existence. Directories are not a good way to get traffic or PR since they don't rank for much.

I recently found http://www.page2review.com/. It is good and free SEO web directory. Worth trying.
