If so, whomever spouted it off is a doofus of google proportions. Albeit, there are two major methods of getting web traffic, there are a few more to consider when trying to reach your marketing goals. Here is a list of some:

• banner advertising
• organic results (obviously)

• forum links
• etc.

That's all that come to mind. However, let me reiterate yet again the absolute need for you to find your community/market online, appeal to them, create new ways for them to fall in love with your product/service, and lead your market by being innovative with your value added service/product. Too many people just want a piece of the already full market pie. Step outside of the zone, create your own markets, eliminate the competition, and reap the return on investment.

Some ways you can do this is to determine a unique method that your type of consumer likes to be served. Give it to them, give them a chance to belong to something with a purpose, and let them have their say. Loyal customers with power will eat up your stuff.
