Distinct SEO Leading Local Sports

**Updated April 14th, 2009**

flamesforum.com and stampedersforum.com have two things in common. Both are professional sports teams in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and both are owned by Distinct SEO. Since late 2006 Distinct SEO have been working with both, in particular FlamesForum.com.

"Being from Calgary we wanted to pick up some local sports web sites and do make a statement in the local market. We love our hometown teams and wanted to start new communities in a market that had room for new entrants," remarked Barry Nagassar, Owner of Distinct SEO.com.

"We took over Flamesforum officially in September of 2006. We wanted to start putting up some valuable content regularly to see if the search engines would welcome us. Sure enough, because the market is has room and because we created a web site that was loved by search engines, the traffic started to grow. In less than seven months we've moved the web site from a PR 1 to a PR 5, but what's more important we've almost tripled unique visitors.

There is still plenty of room to grow, new and better designs, more traffic, better community, etc. All those things considered, for a side project, we've proved that small markets can be easily penetrated, and quickly for that matter."

So what does the future have in store for flamesforum.com?

We've found one other forum based community and nothing else. There is plenty of room to grow and we're excited to soon become an local leader in online fan news for the Calgary Stampeders as well as the Flames."

Stampedersforum.com was created in April, 2006, and is now live. An official launch date has yet to be revealed. For more information on how Distinct SEO can promote your local web site to new web traffic and sales heights, contact Distinct SEO.com for a free analysis and discussion.

Flamseforum.com is also a success story of how regular unique content can generate great rankings.

"We haven't done very much in term of active link acquisition for the web site, but the rankings have been great, primarily because Google values new content. As such, we rank for a number of great and highly competitive terms, beating out major newspapers and sitting right behind the professional team web site."

Some of those rankings in Google include:

Calgary Flames : 11
Calgary Flames news: 2
Calgary Flames forum: 3
Calgary Flames blog: 2
flames forum: 2
