Shame on You Google – Adsense Thin Affiliates GALORE!

I'm not one for ranting and raving, well maybe only occasionally, but I can't help myself right now. I need to share just a quick note about Adsense and Google's non-attempt to clean up the industry. Over the summer months Google has apparently gone to great lengths to remove think affiliates on their Adsense networks. If you're an advertiser this is good news, the cheapo clicks that send users to other web sites that are nothing more than a landing page full of more Adsense ads are being removed--or so we thought

Thin Affiliates Really Losing Adsense Accounts?

I decided to check one of my web sites because I was unhappy with the average click value. I looked at some of the TOP ads in Adsense and visited the URL manually. To my chagrin and disappointment 90% of all the web sites I checked were nothing more than thin affiliate web site with no content to add.... No wonder my income for this web site was going down.

I thought Google was doing a better job with these web sites? Apparently not, I'm disappointed that on one hand they stream advertisers to use Adwords, but on the other hand are slow to boot advertisers from the Adwords network because they rather a quick buck than removing thin affiliate web sites. I'm also displeased with the time it takes to remove web sites off my Adsense roll (4 days now for some).

This particular web site was in the cellular industry. Have you noted similar trends in your industry? If so post them here. I recently started checking a finance web site I own and the results weren't similar. In an industry you'd expect more thin affiliates (like Forex for example) there were fewer but still some. I suppose it's a slow process.

It is a daily burden checking sites on the page and in the preview tool then adding the garbage to the filter. Google should allow more than 200 sites in the filter.

You know what's worse? When you take out these thin affiliates but they end up being some of the higher paying ads (they pay to be at the top) and your average click through value goes down even more.
