The second installment to our ‘rapid fire seo’ questions where we’ll be answering questions in rapid succession. (Also means a bit less detail than normal.)

Q: What ezines (article submission web sites) should I use?

This question assumes something that’s incorrect: that ezines are worthwhile ways to get links. Quick verdict? Spend your time doing something else, like posting the content on your OWN blog. The idea behind submitting to ezines is to get some quick free one way links. Issue with this is they get buried very very fast. No point on investing the effort. The other idea is you get additional links from web sites that use your article on their web sites retaining the link to your web site.

Put it this way, if you garnered links from people using your article on their web site (meaning your article was semi-good) then why on earth wouldn’t you just post in on your OWN blog and promote it from there?

The reason why people still use article syndication is because it still works in the short-term especially for uncompetitive/small market web sites. It’s easy and cheap (hence why third-world SEOs love to pick up the jobs.)

Verdict? The syndicate web sites are always very poor in nature, your links get buried fast, and if you happen to write a wicked article that gets attention you should have asked yourself, “why didn’t I just put this on my web site and reap attention that way?” Case closed.
