a) reasonably priced
b) allow links in text
c) feature in google news (but not be all and end all)

The Value of Press Releases to SEO

Yet again the wrong question was asked. Immediately the question was ‘I need do follow press release web sites’. Dofollow is antonym to ‘nofollow’. Dofollow means you get some credit for the link on the web site. But by simply saying you’re looking for press releases with dofollow shows you have skewed (as in poor) strategies for acquiring web links.

Many press releases (free or pay) offer links without nofollow attributes. The thing is a) these links are buried very quickly and lose their prominence, b) are syndicated quickly, but see A, c) are generally unrelated to your web site, d) are for print media.

Basically, press release services online (the reputable ones, think $200 min per release), are geared towards–get this–the press. Meaning if you have an interesting release you may get print media attention. It’s true you could score a link with google or yahoo news, but at the end of the day, you do quality press releases if you have something worthy for the press to review.

To say you want to submit to press releases for links is a bad strategy. You could submit to a bunch of free press releases services, they do exist. You may even get a quick jump in links. What you won’t get is lasting value to your web site.

half true. The ones that are not ‘nofollowed’ are numerous, many are free. The real PR web sites are the REAL ones that target their target market, which is guess what?, reporters for mostly print media. You may round 200+ USD for these. But just like article submissions, in a single day your 200 bucks hits page 3, then by day 3 from your release you’re on page 5, and by the end of the week you’re buried all together so exposure and the quality of th elink for the price don’t justify the expenditure. You DO complete PR releases if your target is to print media though, for sure.
